Michael Sherwin

Michael Sherwin, o.p. held the chair of Fundamental Moral Theology from Fall 2002 to Spring 2021. Before coming to the University of Fribourg, Prof. Sherwin taught at the Graduate Theological Union at Berkeley in California, where he received his initial formation as a Dominican and was ordained a priest in 1991. Fr. Sherwin’s research focuses on the psychology of love, virtue ethics and moral development. Following the example of Fr. Servais Pinckaers, o.p., he seeks to read Thomas Aquinas in relationship with his biblical and patristic sources. Since September 2022, he is a Professor of Fundamental Moral Theology at the Pontifical University of Thomas Aquinas (Angelicum), Rome and Director of the Institute of Spirituality at the Angelicum (ISA).
