A samurai is dead. A woman is violated. A bandit is captured. But at the trial, their contradictory testimonies make the real events hard to discern. Rashōmon (1950) questions reality, memory, and truth, with unsettling consequences for those involved. A landmark film, it is credited with starting the international New Wave movement.
This is the first in a series of screenings and discussions hosted by the Lumen Christi Institute focusing on the philosophical works of eminent Japanese director Akira Kurosawa (1910-1998).
