Frits van Oostrom, University Professor at Utrecht university, is the world’s foremost scholar of medieval Dutch literature. He is past president of the Royal Academy of Arts and Sciences, former Dean of Humanities in Leiden, has held the Erasmus chair at Harvard, and oversaw a canon for all Dutch high schools.
