Astrida Orle Tantillo is the President and Librarian of the Newberry Library. She joined the Newberry from the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC), where she served as Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (LAS) from 2012 to 2022 and is Professor of Germanic Studies and History. She earned her PhD from the University of Chicago’s Committee on Social Thought and her BA from the University of Oregon Honors College.
