Catholic Residential Community

MISSION

A Catholic residential community at the University of Chicago

In a commitment to enriching Catholic communities for university students, the Lumen Christi Institute and Calvert House have partnered to offer a Catholic residential community for graduate students. In addition to opportunities for social activities and educational programs, the house has a private chapel. While the community is intended for graduate male students, mature undergraduate students are also welcome to apply. The house has capacity for 9 male student residents.

As an intentional Catholic residence, the residents participate in a house dinner and communal prayer  once a week.

HISTORY OF THE HOME

Designed by famous architect Mifflin Bell, this historic Victorian mansion is a Hyde Park gem. “Architect Mifflin Bell had a distinguished career ... He worked for Alfred Piquenard during the design and early construction of the Illinois State Capitol in the late 1870s and early 1880s.
