Join us for an evening of prayer with Benedictine Monks at the Monastery of the Holy Cross. Students will participate in the prayer of the Divine Office (Vespers and Compline),  have dinner, and discuss the Life of St. Antony by Athanasius of Alexandria with Fr. Peter Funk, O.S.B., prior of the monastery and alum of the University of Chicago.

Born in Egypt in the 3rd Century, St. Antony devoted himself to a life of ascetic solitude in the desert. His disciplined life of prayer and fasting separated from the world served as a model for what would eventually become Christian Monasticism.

4:30pm: Depart from Hyde Park
